Sunday 15th December our Band’s Christmas Concert was held at the Conservative Club Lostock Hall. An excellent evening was enjoyed by a good crowd. Our Youth Band played a short programme during the evening and the remaining time was spent playing lots of Christmassy music by the Senior band. One item of interest was the 12 days of Christmas which was helped along by 11 of the audience dressing up as the various days.
As is the normal at this concert the band presented their awards for the year.
Namely:
-
Most improved player – Solo Trombone Alicja Robson
-
Service to the Band The Alan Sherrington Award – Solo Cornet – Tom Duddle
-
Player of the Year – Solo Euph – Phil Edwards
This year we presented a new award ‘the Sarah Gardner Memorial Award’. This was voted for by the players themselves and was awarded to Maria Green who take over the Solo Horn position following Sarah’s untimely death in the summer of 2013. Congratulations to all who won these awards.
Mince pies were served during the interval and later we had a visit from Father Christmas which is always a favourite with the children. A big thank you to everyone who took part in the concert and to our new MD Brian Harper for his contribution.
