Brass at the Guild 2014 – The Result

Well Sunday 2 February, Brass at the Guild at Preston Guild Hall. An early start for our band with a quick rehearsal at 8.30, report at the Guild Hall at 9.45, then on stage  by 10.30a.m. Drawn No.2. not a good draw but no control over that. We played reasonably well and our man at the helm was pleased with the performance. Pity the man in the box didn’t have the same thoughts. His remarks  make comment on one or two things he didn’t like but after many years of contesting think we are used to this. We came 7th out of 9 bands (one withdrawal) so better luck at Blackpool on the same piece – Partita – Postcards from home by Philip Wilby. A disappointing day but at least we were there and as the saying goes, its the taking part that counts. Now looking forward to 9th March the Areas at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool on the same piece. Well done LHMB for putting the time in at rehearsals. In the meantime we have a good concert on 22 February at United Reform Church in Leyland. This is always an excellent evening with a maximum audience and the band are looking forward to making another appearance in Leyland.
